A new model from a leading US electric-carmaker has won the hearts of consumers with its promise of a truly disruptive electric car.

The Tesla Roadster has won an international award for the most innovative and cost-effective electric vehicle.

The new Tesla Roadsters electric vehicle, Tesla Road, takes its name from the German word for road, and has a range of about 210 kilometres (120 miles) in a range that rivals some of the most expensive electric vehicles in the world.
