“It’s the first time I’ve heard of a ‘cyborg-killer’,” said a man who spoke to The Washington Post.
The FBI said that it is investigating a possible attack on a military base in Utah by the cyborg-killing robot called the RD-180.
The RD-120 is a prototype weapon developed by Lockheed Martin and has been in development for years, but the Pentagon said it was recently upgraded with new components and technology.
“This is the first known instance of the RD 180’s ability to be fired in this manner,” FBI spokesman John Kirby told The Post.
“We have no reason to believe that the RD 120 could have been used to attack military installations in Utah.”
He said that the weapon would be used in future operations.
The Post reported that the U.S. military had been testing the RD by firing its RD-100A version.
According to the Post, the weapon’s main advantage over its civilian counterpart is that the Russian-made RD-1000A is smaller and lighter.
The weapon can fire up to 1,000 rounds per minute, but its rate of fire can be limited due to its short range.
The Pentagon has said that “the RD-160 is designed to be used as a strike weapon, and that it can fire a minimum of 1,100 rounds per second.”
The Pentagon said that all of its weapons are now fully operational.
